It’s ridiculous and vapid echo chamber shit like this why I left Twitter and Facebook. I had until recently stopped reading TechCrunch as well and I’ll be re-instating that policy immediately. No one is talks about anything that matters in this town anymore. If they ever did that is. Is there any really good tech journalism out there?

Stay classy San Francisco
A few snaps from my walk to work this morning post San Francisco Giants Win/Riot. What I can’t capture in the photos is the wreak of piss, shit and puke that covered almost every step I took on my mile walk to the office. There’s broken bottles everywhere as well. I guess people in SF have never heard the phrase “Don’t shit where you sleep.”

"Uninviting" →
After a long break I’m back in the saddle of ‘A Photo a Day’ and I don’t think I’ll be taking any more breaks. Taking photos every day contributes more to my sanity than any other activity besides writing.

Why you can't trust trending topics.
When I worked at Technorati back in the day I was, among other things, in charge of integrating back-end bits and front end-bits. One of those bits was Top Searches which was our version of Trending Topics. This was back in September of 2005 and our then President was being as douchy as ever so I got an idea. The stuff I was getting back from the search service was basically a list of text so it...

Introduction to Urban Survival Caching
Note: I wrote this post a year and a half ago for Tim Ferriss’s blog when he was laid up with an elbow injury. It was never used so I’m posting it here for the first time. Life in the city is a daily exercise in chaos theory. With so many people and so many variables anything can happen and quite often does. Most of the time the results are minor inconveniences that don’t lead...

Caring for Your Introvert →
Do you know someone who needs hours alone every day? Who loves quiet conversations about feelings or ideas, and can give a dynamite presentation to a big audience, but seems awkward in groups and maladroit at small talk? Who has to be dragged to parties and then needs the rest of the day to recuperate? Who growls or scowls or grunts or winces when accosted with pleasantries by people who are...
